A house inspired by the past
The refurbishment of a house in north London was inspired by trends from the middle of the last century. Designer Claudia Dorsch first helped clients choose key works of art, which then served as a guiding thread in the design. The appropriate colors, shapes and materials were then selected. The key elements of the interior are terrazzo floors, Moroccan zellige or handmade concrete tiles, which are located in the lobby, kitchen and bathroom. Wooden floors have been newly painted to look softer. Selected color variations in warm shades make the interior cozy. The selected palette of pastel colors, typical of the 1950s, complemented by darker color accents, perfectly emphasizes the spatial details. The selection of switches also corresponds to the middle of the last century. The elegant NIGRA porcelain switches with brass screws match the black minimalist metal columns that replaced the demolished load-bearing walls.
